He ran and worshipped Him - Mark 5:6

A Demon-Possessed Man Healed

1 Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes.
2 And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains,
4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him.
5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.
6 When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him.
7And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?
I implore You by God that You do not torment me.”

Would this passage be saying that when the demon-possessed man simply recognized and acknowledged Jesus as the Son of God that would be called "worship"? Or would verse six be indicating that other words and actions were taking place, but not recorded in detail?

I believe the "worship" part is the common use of the word in the sense of "obeisance". In other words the guy came to Jesus and bowed down to Him (Matt 2:11, 9:18, etc) as a token of submission and respect. This caused the demon to cry out (through the man, obviously) what they sometimes cried out when they encountered Him (Luke 4:33-34, Mark 3:11).

Yes, I agree. When he knelt down:

Berean Literal Bible
And having seen Jesus from afar, he ran and fell on his knees before Him.

King James Bible
But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

proskuneó: to do reverence to
Original Word: προσκυνέω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: proskuneó
Phonetic Spelling: (pros-koo-neh'-o)
Definition: to do reverence to
Usage: I go down on my knees to, do obeisance to, worship.
HELPS Word-studies
4352 proskynéō (from 4314 /prós, "towards" and kyneo, "to kiss") – properly, to kiss the ground when prostrating before a superior; to worship, ready "to fall down/prostrate oneself to adore on one's knees" (DNTT); to "do obeisance" (BAGD).

I see that we have a conflict going on in the man. The man worshipped Jesus but the demons in the man screamed out in fear.

How did the man know who Jesus was to worship him? The demons knew who he was, yet the man himself?

We don’t know much about the man, except that at times someone was able to get close enough to put chains on him (“often bound with fetters and chains), which he continued to break.

Maybe being in the mountains he witnessed the storm that Jesus settled and that is why he was able to see (Jesus afar off) and ran to meet him as he got off the ship. Perhaps he cried out for deliverance.

A pastor’s wife was sharing a story about a woman who called and asked, “Is this the church that can cast out spirits?” Long story short, she came to a prayer meeting and when they begin to pray the spirit manifest itself. She was delivered and continued to live for God.

Her humanity cried out, the spirit tried to stop the deliverance. I suspect the same with the man from the tombs.

If someone is possessed badly enough they can at times hear some internal discussions amongst the demons. The man didnt know Jesus but the demons in him did and you can be assured they were freaking out before man took his first step towards the beach.

You think that man wanted to live like that separated from community, family and basic humanity nose blind to the stench of rot and decay of the corpses he was surrounded by? The man cried out in agony in the night tortured enough to self mutilate. When Jesus arrived the very fact that what had a hold of him responded in fear. THAT drove that man to run to where Jesus was and worship.

It was the age old tactic of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

....and what a Friend he had found.
