Some comfort...
Hebrews 9:28 (KJV) So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Romans 5:9 (KJV) Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Our salvation is drawing nigh!
Romans 8:23-25 (KJV) 23 And not only [they], but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body. 24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for it.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (KJV) 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
It sure is great to know that we’ve got something to look forward to!

So, when we die we don't go to heaven right away?

Re: Some comfort...
Thanks for the great scriptures! They are a comfort. This mess our world is in, is not new to the Lord, and He has a plan through it all. That comforts me the most. Knowing that He knows.
We are coming up on Good Friday, a day when the disciples thought everything they had believed in, was for nothing, as they looked at the wretched body of Christ on the cross. But in three days, their perspective changed forever. They realized the moment of their deepest darkest despair, had just ushered in the greatest deliverance mankind would ever know.
So today while we feel the world is slipping into a black pit of despair with no end in sight to the madness... this could just be the perfect design of the Lord to bring the church into a place of something far greater than could ever have been without this situation.

Re: Some comfort...
Phil. 4:6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
19And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Ok, fair enough. Preachers need to start preaching that then. When you die your held in place until the resurrection happens in some future time.

Right away? Nobody dies and goes to heaven, now OR later. The dead are ASLEEP. They are in the graves (hades, sheol, the grave, etc). On resurrection day they arise.
The saints will live forever on earth.
