Selfie Deaths

maybe there is something to natural selection?

Getting that perfect travel snap has proven to be the last thing that more than 250 people have ever done.

Once-in-a-lifetime trips may warrant that special image, but a new study shows that the quest for taking a selfie in dangerous locations is proving to be a major public health hazard.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences has found that between October 2011 and November 2017, there were 259 selfie-related deaths worldwide.

The study analyzed media reports over the years and found most selfie shooters died by drowning, while a large number of others met their demise by falling from heights or taking a selfie in front of an oncoming train.

Re: Selfie Deaths

Either people are a lot stupider today or there is something about selfies that causes normally rational people to do the stupidist things.

It seems lately there is a rash of people at places like National Parks who end up falling off cliffs or over waterfalls in their quest for a great selfie. Crazy.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
