Church Building, Brewery and Planned Parenthood
This isn't satire or a joke, unfortunately.
Pro-gay church plans to build worship space/brewery, donate profits to Planned Parenthood
"""A building in Santa Cruz, Calif., is being converted into a worship space and public brewery by a pro-gay church that plans to donate some of its beer proceeds to Planned Parenthood, according to reports.
Members of the Greater Purpose Community Church now meet on Sundays at a food lounge to pray, listen and drink beer, KNTV reports.
"There’s nothing in the Bible that says you can't drink alcohol in a responsible manner," Pastor Chris VanHall told the station."""
"""The pastor told KNTV that holding services at the food lounge gave him the idea for the brewery. "I thought to myself, 'wouldn't it be great if a church could figure out a way to make a product where they split the profits with local community service organizations?' We were like 'hey, we love beer, we love making beer, why not do a brewery?'" he said.
Anyway, he said, his sermons are always better after a couple of beers."""

Re: Church Building, Brewery and Planned Parenthoo
Muh "freedom of religion" and "separation of church and state" in action right there.

Hmm I've heard this even right here on AFF, that's the 1st step to becoming like this shindig. We won't call it a church, that would be sacreligious.

It’s not the first step. What is your problem?

Re: Church Building, Brewery and Planned Parenthoo
Looks like an old story.
New group comes in, sells the old church and lives well...

snippets
A Disciple of Christ place of worship, in several forms, has sat at the circular plot since at least 1890, while neighborhood streets have been built in concentric circles around it. Prior to renovations and a formal renaming to Garfield Park Community Church in 2014, the place of worship was most recently dubbed the Circle Church.
The deal, in escrow since Friday, has not yet been finalized while the buyer investigates whether their long-term goals for the site are feasible. The property’s price tag and buyer remain as of yet unknown, though the site was listed for $3 million.
