Netflix Movie - "Come Sunday"
Netflix has produced a movie based on Carlton Pearson's heresy and the fallout because of it, titled "Come Sunday."
If you don't know Pearson or didn't know, Carlton Pearson was the Pastor of a large mega-church in Tulsa, Oklahoma - Higher Dimensions Family Center. At its height, HD had some incredible music and artists. Gary Oliver and Carman were both associated with HD.
A protege of Oral Roberts, Pearson had several albums recorded live at ORU. The "Live At Azusa" recordings were some of my favorites at one time. Mickey Mangun sings on one of the albums (#3, IIRC)
I read several reviews, but have not and likely will not watch the movie. It makes Pearson the hero who made a "courageous" decision to stand by what he believed even though it cost him almost everything.

Re: Netflix Movie - "Come Sunday"
Man that guy is a straight reprobate. I've seen videos and a debate of him on YouTube. I've seen maybe 3 of them, and listened to the debate. Let me share a couple, the one about Joel Osteen spoke volumes to me. The debate he uses the Bible. I don't remember which one it is, but there's a video he says "we believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God; but it's probably just the inspired word of man, about God."

Re: Netflix Movie - "Come Sunday"
Victim turned hero.
Man seeking to be nicer than Jesus, more righteous than his creator.
All based on emotion, how Christianity is harsh, how ecclesiastical councils and Pastors are only trying to seal up the kingdom of God. Which they aren't willing to enter themselves nor will they allow anyone to enter. Carlton Pearson is a business man, a showman, and a risk taker. Yet, his risk didn't pay off. He forgot he was still working in a religious paradigm. Carlton Pearson believed his own PR, which gets a lot of people in trouble. When ministers walk out of the pulpit and hears someone say, "brother, that was awesome preaching" human tendency is to take the bait, and thus swallow the hook. Carlton Pearson believed he could sell cold to a snow man, and hot to the devil. Therefore sneaking into his preaching Inclusivism. Yet, like every other congregation under the sun you always have line holders, and true believers. That don't want the new and improved. Especially in a religion they have been in for years. Carlton was caught in his own self induced delusion. What saved him is that like every other religious personality he still had "friends" and "followers." Some in very influential places.
Hence you have the next phase to this story with Carlton Pearson's publicity movie. We have nothing to worry about, we see the emperor is naked. Because we understand what it means to be fully clothed. Yet, it is the younger generation who will be faced with the greater battle. To be able to discern the Carlton Pearsons of the 21st century as the reprobate messengers of Satan. Showing the young people the tear jerking heart pulling ecclesiastical sagas. Which are structured to appeal to emotions instead of Biblical logic.
Carlton Pearson already has his reward and is fine with that. He doesn't care about eternal life in glory, because he stopped believing in God long ago. Sadly he is just another ecclesiastical pimp, soul hustler, blind guide. Just trying to prove that we all can be more righteous than God.

Hit it on the head.
The story is that Pearson saw a tv program about the genocide in Rwanda and couldn't believe that God would condemn those who weren't saved to hell. So he claims he heard from God that "everyone is already saved," and because of that there is no hell.

One guy sees a genocide in Africa and says "I want to help"
Another says "those poor souls."
Another guy sees the same genocide and says "what an opportunity to make money."
Yet, another says all three without shame.

CP is a very sad story. His fall into great doctrinal error may have had various motivations but I don't think making money was one of them as it cost him a large church with the large income that comes with it. Departing from basic doctrine that 99.9% of christians adhere to is certainly not a way to expand your ministry and wealth!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Wait, you weren't dealing with a man who was teaching Bible studies from the pulpit. He mingled his inclusive doctrine into his preaching. He wasn't teaching annihilationism, with book, chapter, and verse with hand out notes. He was mind blending weaving his "come one come all" into the preaching. It backfired, and he had blowback. He actually believed that he could sell his "fans" not congregants, "fans" his everyone is saved especially the LGBT groove. The problem with your above statement is that you really believed that this shyster had a epiphany and became enlightened. He then searched his soul and gave up everything wealth, houses, and lands for his yearning to set men free. That my man is the biggest bunch of hot steaming vomit ever. But you know what, people love a sad tale of woe, where the underdog is the victim of the elite, but through perseverance he comes out on top. Carlton Pearson was just following Billy Graham's lead, to the doctrine of inclusivism.
CP just didn't have the hearts and minds of the people as much as he thought he did. But, honey child, he sure made a strong comeback with a best selling book, which launched him into an entire different group who were able to fund him into his next level.
Sorry, but Pearson wasn't a seeker hungry for God's word, and therefore he gave up everything for book, chapter, and verse.
He is nothing more than a showman.
Who like PT Barnum understood that there's a sucker born every minute.

Re: Netflix Movie - "Come Sunday"
CP's choice had nothing to do with money...out of his own mouth he reveals that he had backslidden grandparents, Pentecostal COGIC, and he refused to say they were in hell.
So he chose to put Hitler in heaven...it's sad on more levels than I have strength to describe this morning.
