Just got a very unfortunate text message. It appears that our friend Elder Barrel was in a surfing accident this afternoon. Sounded serious. Don't really have any details but I will post updates as I get them. Thought you all would want to know.

Spoke with a mutual friend of mine and the Elder's. It appears that in spite of his recent weakening condition our friend decided to go surfing at high tide over a large coral reef. Apparently he slipped and was pushed under water by a large wave that dragged him along the coral. He inhaled a large amount of water and is suffering from a severe head injury and several lacerations all over his body. The doctors say he is critical.

I'm sure the Elder would appreciate your prayers!

Brother Barrel is improving somewhat. He is by no means out of the woods but the doctors and family have a little hope. I'd love the opportunity to hear our friend blast the liberals one more time, but time will tell. The doctors say all we can do is wait it out.

Brother Barrel is starting to respond some to his family! This is great news. However...he wasn't alone in his misfortune. The pastor of the loose church across town was with him and he is in much worse condition.
