Last year the first church I started when I was single had a dedication as they once again had remodeled the church and added on. They asked me to come (not bragging) as a remembrance of where it all began...most of those that stood with me are now gone but for the time being I am still around.
a few of the preachers that many were drunks in the slums areas when I first found them were there to tell the story....

Some were sons of the first set of preachers...that church has started other churches...today is completely self supporting, has a good standard and has some of the most talented young people you could ever imagine.
I no longer have to do what I once did...when I walked in they begin to sing in their language Thank you for giving to the Lord...
Was it hard? Yes Over 45 years ago this nice little village was a den of prostitutes and bandits...no running water....no electricity and no comforts of any kind...yet souls were living there in the darkness of sin and paganism... Without a musical instrument....without any modern outreach tools I stood under a tree with old pieced together flannelgraph and told them the life changing story of Jesus while the witch doctor screamed curses at me....It was NOTHING I did but it was His spirit that drew people to him and slowly lives were changed. Today there is a beautiful church there full of precious people and many outreaches and endeavors that are all their efforts....I owe thanks to many villagers that let a little foreign girl stay in their humble abodes... a friendship that has lasted through the years...

It was so hard back in those days...I was so young....Oh, how I love those people...today they do not need me...but there was a time I was life to them...now they are life to others...

Sister Alvear, have you though to write your autobiography?

Your story seems similar to the stories of Nona Freeman and Oma Ellis.

I wonder if selling your book would be a way for you to raise funds for missions?

Actually once I wrote one booklet...I need to continue and renew it...
