Abolish the Department of Education... and set us back to 1979 with every state "willy-nillying" it. Does the Department of Education need revamping? Yes. But abolishment? No. Let's be real, only a backwards idiot would even suggest that while running for President.

Aquila - yep, I remember 1979 well, that was the year that education in the USA dramatically improved. It was like a gift from Heaven!
Our students are now so much smarter, well-spoken, better mannered, less violent.....

Maybe because we spend $87 BILLION on the department of education for 50 million school children.
Let the local school districts have the money.

Education should have been kept local and in the home. I applaud anyone with the courage to take on the Dept of Education.
