I am thinking of the recent election of Matt Bevin as Governor of Kentucky. They said he wouldn't win, but the people voted him in.
Cruz's father's point is that if we don't vote and if we don't get involved, we will continue having these left leaning people in office.
I don't know why Christian churches would advocate not getting involved in politics. Especially not even to vote. Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian values and we should work to maintain that.
Pray and vote. Also, if someone feels God leading them into running for any type of political office, do it. Just ask God for guidance and make sure you are sure God is calling you for the task. It's like anything else we do in our relationship with God.
