Pastor Jerry Cox makes the news

A Franklinton man faces federal prosecution for making bank withdrawals the government regards as suspicious, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Jerry Cox, 72, was charged in a bill of information Thursday (Aug. 6) for "structuring financial transactions to avoid federal reporting requirements," according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Orleans. The amounts were "part of a pattern of illegal activity involving more than $100,000 in a 12-month period," the bill of information against Cox reads. The withdrawals took place in 2011.

No alleged criminal purpose for the withdrawals is mentioned in the news release sent out by the U.S. Attorney's Office. Prosecutors also declined to characterize how they believe Cox got the money or for what purpose he withdrew it.

That's what happens when you try fixing a series of transactions just under the Fed reporting amount. I see this stuff a lot.

Well, we are still innocent until proven guilty.

Ron Cox is the pastor of Faith Tabernacle church in Franklinton. Also the name of a guy I went to bible college with who is a UPC pastor but he is 15+ years younger than this Ron Cox.

LOL!!! You are absolutely right. This is what happens when I try to post after a very long day at work and road trip. I saw the question who is Ron and had a brain fart thinking the article I had just read from the link was about a Ron Cox and not a Jerry Cox as is the case. I will go to bed now!

Yup. You would think people would know that making some $9,999.99 transactions or right around there would raise a red flag even if it technically meant the bank didn't have to report it.
