Scott Walker's gift to billionaires

Governor Walker included in the state budget, a provision to borrow $500 million to build an arena for the Milwaukee Bucks.

The owners of the Bucks are billionaires. Many of the team members are millionaires.

Why should the poor people of Wisconsin "give" 500 million to billionaires so millionaires can play ball ?

The rich man plays and the poor man pays. This is life in Walkers world.

Walkers use of power is a violation of public trust.

Plenty of Democrat politicians do this sort of thing as well. It is wrong. If you think government should not use tax payer money for such things then support Rand Paul.

I do not have a party. I would not support this use of finance from any politician.

Re: Scott Walker's gift to billionaires

The public portion of the arena is 250 million from state, city and county. The owners are contributing another 250. No matter who is governer they would make sure it gets done. No one wants to be to blame for losing a professional team. Milwaukee went through that before. Of course with interest, etc. it will be more money.

Over $400 million with total interest paid. Why should the poor man pay the bill for billionaires to play ball ?

Pro sports sicken me. Government needs to stay out of this. This includes Congressional hearings on pro-sports related stuff.

Because the poor man spends his dough on beer and tickets to the game and pay-per-view, thus necessitating a stadium.

BTW, genuinely poor people don't pay as much in taxes, and most of the taxes they do pay is paid with welfare funds from other taxpayers.

Anyways, as long as people demand their bread and circuses, gubb'mint will be happy to supply.

Walker's budget decision is a normal part of politics and sports.
Fixed it for you.

Much ado about nothing. You must be new to this, so I'll help you out. Walker isn't the first, nor will he be the last to give taxpayer dollars to build a sports venue. Mayors and Governors do it ALL THE TIME. Both Republicans and Democrats.

Any time you read about a new stadium or arena being built, check to see how much taxpayer money is being given.

The Chicago Cubs just had a new spring practice stadium built here. Most of the money came from the city through a voter approved bond.

I know you don't like Walker, but it's not about Walker. This is normal in politics.

Wisconsin has fiscal problems. Your point is well noted.
