will you know your loved ones in heaven
This is a question that recently came up in a bible study. I have some assertions, but I don't really know matter of factly.

Re: will you know your loved ones in heaven
Yes we will.
This seems to show we will.
13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Re: will you know your loved ones in heaven
No, we will neither know or be known by anyone whom we knew while a resident of the earth .....
I know of no other passage of the Scripture which make this more clear than those of Isaiah 65:17
"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind."
Absolutely NOTHING of this life will ever enter into the minds of those in heaven. It will be as if this present life never happened.
Heaven would not be a very happy place if it should be that we fail to find those there whom we loved dearly in this life but for some reason they are not a resident there.
We know others in this life only! Once either we, or they, experience death, all ties with them are forever severed!
There is only One whom I have known in this life that I want to know there, and that is my wondrously indescribable Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Thank God I have a hope in Christ! And thank God I have never heard anyone teaching what you have proposed.

Re: will you know your loved ones in heaven
What a lonely eternity to not know anyone. No friends or loved ones? I believe we will not only know all who we knew in this life but those we never got a chance to know, either because they came before us or after.

Re: will you know your loved ones in heaven
I do sort of agree with Lafon, that we will not remember those left behind, but I disagree that we will not know all others in Heaven. I believe we will know our brothers and sisters in the Lord on that blessed and glorious day. How could we not know our own family?

Re: will you know your loved ones in heaven
the question of course presupposes that the one asking it is assured of heaven; a prospect the Bible deems pretty doubtful, speaking generally.

Your passages seem to imply that we will recognize each other. I agree with your interpretation here.

Re: will you know your loved ones in heaven
People who are already in heaven are there in spirit form only. Hard to say how one would recognize a person's spirit just by appearance
John though he was looking at Christ in the Book of Revelation before finding out it was one of his fellow wrkers who was already with the Lord.
Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
