Good video app?

I need a recommendation on a good (preferably free lol) video making and editing program. Not for making fullscale high budget movies, but just for a video track, main audio track, some video editing (adding text etc plus transitions etc), possibly splicing two or more audio or video tracks together/dubbing) and maybe even some good graphic design features for intros/outros etc...

Any ideas?

Oh, prefer a Linux platform too, if possible.

NCH software has a free trial for many different video and digital programs. I don't know if it will work on a Linux platform though. But you can check it out. I have a lot of NCH software, and it works well for what I need it for, just home use.
