Makes Me Proud To Be Republican!

“And we’re not going to be debating all these gosh darn proposals. That’s all we do in the Senate is vote on things like raising the minimum wage,” he told the billionaires in attendance.

Sad that so many find this scenario as acceptable and even, a good thing.

Re: Makes Me Proud To Be Republican!

Please. RINO maybe. You are definitely not a real Republican or conservative, based on just the past year of posts from you.

Re: Makes Me Proud To Be Republican!

First of all, the Constitution does not give the Federal Government the power to set minimum wage. Secondly minimum wage increases result in less job creation. Some jobs are level entry and were not meant to be high paying.

Both GOP/DEM have never let a little thing like the Constitution stop them before. Why do it now?

I've posted this before, Hannity and Limbaugh are pure political mouthpieces.

But.

We could do the same with an image of Harry Reid, a Democrat, who was furious that Bill Frist, the former Senate Leader, had the idea of using the nuclear option in order to break up the Democrat obstruction in Congress.

Quote:
"If there were ever an example of an abuse of power, this is it," said Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.). "The filibuster is the last check we have against the abuse of power in Washington."
Reid even threatened that the Democrats would completely shut down the Senate and not allow any votes if the Nuclear Option was used.

Fast forward to today and look at what Reid and the Democrats have said about the Republicans.

It's all politics. That's why when libs get their panties in a bind, I like to remind them what they were doing when W was in office.

Before there were Republican "obstructionists," there were Democrat ones.

Re: Makes Me Proud To Be Republican!

But in all fairness to Jerym, why don't we see the GOP heralding a vision for REAL economic reform that would erase the minimum wage debate from the radar, like the Fair Tax? I'm already seeing signs that the GOP establishment is trying to stop a Republican wave landslide in the November 2014 midterms. Self sabotage.

It's the incumbents. IMO there needs to be term limits set for these career politicians. No member of Congress should be allowed to serve past 8 or 10 years. This is one issue where the founding fathers messed up by not writing it into the Constitution.

Term limits will never happen because Congress would never approve it. There was one bright light of hope back in 1994, when the GOP adopted it as its platform, then passed a term limits bill. Unfortunately, the bill failed to reach the 2/3 needed to ratify it.
