Reformed Theology
Are there any members here that subscribe to Reformed Theology?
I lean heavily toward New Calvinism (Chandler, Piper, et al).

Re: Reformed Theology
I was almost persuaded once. Spent some serious time studying and mulling over it. I'm not a Calvinist at all but I think my study of Calvinism has enhanced my view of the Total Sovereignty of God, which is the only one of the 5 points I see as biblical at all.
Is there really any significant doctrinal difference between "Old Calvinism" and "New Calvinism"? Don't all embrace TULIP?

Re: Reformed Theology
KC,
New Calvinists believe in TULIP. They are Calvinistic in soteriology. They are more inter-denominational. Many are continuationists, not charismatic. They engage the culture and are missional.
Old Calvinism relies heavily on confessions like Westminster. They are mainline denominations like Presbyterian, etc. They are cessationists. Old Calvinism doesn't engage the culture, but rather sees that as compromise and worldliness.

I'm not Reformed but def lean that way. I really appreciate their high view of scripture and emphasis on theology. Been very helpful in my post apostolic development.

Re: Reformed Theology
Not convinced that what Calvinists teach today is the full intent of John Calvin. That city garnished a lot of power in its day, power and influence that rivalled the catholic church.
I align with Arminius on most of the subjects, perhaps not all.

Re: Reformed Theology
Well, I'm disappointed. I though there'd be more people here waking in truth.

Guess you haven't read Kuyper, Bavinck and a whole host of others.

No. I'm going by the attitudes of the old guard that I encounter on forums.

Re: Reformed Theology
I believe in predestination but not eternal security. I have no connection with Calvins teachings.
