Divine Impartation

Can someone give another person the Holy Spirit? Can a preacher impart "the anointing" in to another person? The Holy Spirit is given without measure, right? How can someone give another more of the Holy Spirit than what someone might already have?

ya, not buying it. the Spirit is received at salvation, lost in sinning, and reacquired by rebound, John 1:9. imo.

Re: Divine Impartation

The Holy Ghost cannot be imparted or transferred from one person to another. I do believe faith can and I do believe that certain gifts of the Spirit can be imparted from one person to another.

I also believe that there are certain character virtues and attitudes can be imparted, but perhaps not in the same way a spiritual gift could be directly imparted. For instance, many times a week I spend time in prayer with my pastor even though we are not "praying together". Because of this I have felt my own prayer life reach levels in the Spirit that I do not feel I ever could have reached on my own. Over a period of several years, spending hours upon hours in prayer in thee same room as my pastor I feel that there has been a depth of prayer that has been imparted/transmitted into my Spirit because of my association with him. I notice this with other men of God that I am exposed to. I have seen my prayer life and what "ministry" I have shaped because of my exposure to various men of God. What astounds me is that often times I don't even realize it's happening at the time. That is why wee should be cautious about the company we keep and those we allow to influence us. It has worked both ways in my Own life.

The Lord told Moses to lay hands on Joshua and "put some of thine honor upon him."

thereby clearing the way for every would-be Moses to re-enact the scene sans the Lord, unfortunately. But good point.

Re: Divine Impartation

Hi,

Only Jesus had the Spirit
without measure.

Eph.4
[7] ...to every one of us is given grace,
according to the measure (the amount) of the gift (of the Spirit),
of/ by Christ (who anoints us)

Rev.22
[16] I Jesus have sent my angel
to testify these things to you, in the churches.
++
I am the root (the LORD) and the offspring of David,
and the bright and morning star.
++
[17] And the Spirit and the bride say, Come.
And let him who hears say, Come.
And let him who is athirst (for the Spirit) come.
And whoever wills,

let him >> take the water of life freely. (unhindered)

An exact, but simple, baptism method must be followed,
and the "unspeakables" start happening.

If you are willing ...

I will send you the info...

Keep well,

God is sovereign. He can rain the Spirit down without the laying on of hands... or choose to flow through the laying on of hands. He can do as He wishes whenever He wishes.

short answer? NO.

Longer, more nuanced answer?

No one but God gives the spirit. but the scripture does seem to indicate that Elders have a role to play.

We see this in Acts 8 when Phillip preachs to the Samaritans. They believe, they are baptized, but they do not receive the Holy Spirit until Peter and John come and lay hands upon them.

We also have James' witness where he calls for the sick to call on the Elders of the church to pray and call on the name of Jesus.

Heb. speaks of "the doctrine of laying on of hands"

Clearly there is intention by God to see men of faith being used to impart what God intends. That does not in any way deminish that it is God who does whatever is done. AND that does not in any way bring honor to the elder used by God. The honor is always God's.

Re: Divine Impartation

So, please explain from scripture how one 'loses' the Holy Spirit by sinning and 'regains' it on 'rebound'.

I just love old traditional teachings that can't be supported by scripture. NOT!
