Re: Luz del Mundo
Luke,
I am pretty sure they are non-Trinitarian. Do they affirm the standard Oneness view? Of that I am not sure, either.
Monterrey,
That is one thing I have heard again and again, that they basically idolize their "apostle". I've heard anything from singing hymns written about him, to only being allowed to receive communion from his hand (which necessitates a pilgrimage to Mexico), to pictures of him being placed in their Bibles.
I've also heard that they believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues, but that it's a mostly rare occasion, and usually not something that happens or is encouraged among children (i.e. that it's almost impossible).
But this is all "heard" and not experienced myself.
We've never really tried to evangelize the group, but I was recently invited by a business card on my door, to one of their meetings. I've been considering going, not for edification or conversion, but to perhaps be a light and help people who just may be my brothers and sisters, come out of their bondage.
