I'm New
Hey y'all! I'm so happy to have found AFF! A little bit about me...
I was raised my whole life within the Pentecostal Holiness movement (Trinitarian). I backslid, and for the past 8 years or so I've been living in all kinds of sin. Occult, sexual immorality, Spiritualism, and New Age... well, I had a chance to go with my momma to church two Sundays ago. While I was there I began feeling nostalgic for the "good ol' days". At this point is was purely nostalgic... so, I began to look for a good old fashioned holiness church. Much to my surprise (my momma's church included) do not hold to the "old paths" that we once held to. So, to make a long story short...
I started looking for "holiness churches". All of a sudden my local Apostolic Church came up in a search for "holiness church". So, I thought..."well, why not...I'll give it a shot!" I worked up the nerve this past Sunday morning and I made my way down to the house of God. When I entered a very familiar feeling caught me off guard. As the service progressed I really felt the move of the Holy Ghost. I prayed with my entire heart "Lord Jesus, please forgive me!" In that moment I felt the freedom to really worship God... I worshiped Him like l used to! I went home that afternoon walking on a cloud. I really felt like God had heard my prayer to forgive me. I spent the afternoon repenting and studying the scriptures. After all this church was a bit different than the church I grew up in. Yes, the church I grew up in had the standards right, but they didn't have the message. So, now I needed to learn the message!
At church that night God allowed me to pray back through to the glorious Holy Ghost! He placed my feet on straight street...he got me goin' right! After service I talked to Pastor and his wife. After reading the scriptures that were part of the pamphlet, and talking to Pastor I saw the One God message! I saw that I needed to be baptized in Jesus' saving name! Soooo long story short...I'm gonna go down in Jesus name tonight! GLORY TO GOD!
I cannot wait to go down in that saving name! Please pray for me! God is SO GOOD!

Re: I'm New
Welcome! Thank you for that testimony!
Quote:
Romans 6:3-7 "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin."
|
I remember an old chorus we used to sing when someone was baptized:
Quote:
I'm so glad that I've been buried in the name of the Lord,
In the name of the Lord,
In the name of the Lord
I'm so glad that I've been buried in the name of the Lord,
Since the name of the Lord has been revealed.
|
May God bless your new life in Him.
