8 People Baptized in Jesus Name Tonight!
Tonight was our first quarterly "Praise & Worship Night" in our new building. It started at 7 pm and was still going on when I left a little after 10 pm.
Around 9:30 pm we had a baptismal service and I believe 8 young men and woman were baptized in Jesus name!
It was so great getting to see several hundred people, (most of them young under 30), crowded around the baptismal tank (some kind of rubbermaid like giant water trough) clapping and getting excited as each person was baptized.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: 8 People Baptized in Jesus Name Tonight!
One cool thing was that a guy who is one of the leaders in our children's ministry baptized his sister (she looked around 20 years old). The cool thing was not just him baptizing her but his story.
He had gone to church but never had really given his life to Christ. He had married a young lady then proceeded to destroy the marriage through his actions. When he came to our church a couple of years ago he really gave his life to Christ and changed.
He felt in prayer that God was going to restore his marriage. He contacted his ex wife and told her about how God had transformed his life and that he felt like it was God's will that they be together again with the Lord as the center of their lives.
Naturally she was very skeptical and suspicious but over time he got her to start talking to him and meeting places. This culminated last fall when they went to the Catalyst leadership conference with a group of about 20 leaders from our church. One night around 10pm our pastor sent word to everybody to meet in the hotel conference room. That day at the Catalyst conference he had asked his ex wife to marry him again after many months or courting and she said yes. We had an impromptu wedding ceremony right then and there!
It is a blessing to see their happy faces at church and the obvious love they have for each other. He is a lucky man because many men who make horrible mistakes and destroy their marriages don't get a second chance to make it right.
