Bride of Christ

Curious to hear what you bible scholars' thoughts are on this teaching and where it came from. I have never heard it before but they think the bride is the city Jerusalem and that they both give salvation. This is the main scripture that they seem to use...

Revelation 21:9-10
King James Version (KJV)
9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

Revelation 22:17
King James Version (KJV)
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Ya! What you said. I prefer 'Church,' but whatever. You beat me by like 1 minute there, Prax; I was reading Rev in a diff version. Very nice.

Re: Bride of Christ

I know that many will disagree with me on this one but im ok with that. I lean toward the bride being not the whole church but a select group from within the church.

I guess I never really thought of it before this moment, but it sounds very plausible. Consider also that there will (most probably) be some who are "rewarded" more than others and it makes sense.

I agree. The parable of the virgins in Matt 25 supports that view, IMO. They aren't there to marry the bridegroom, they're there to attend the marriage of the bridegroom.
