Rand Paul gets 25 percent of vote with Rubio winning 23 percent. what does this mean for the gop establishment and the future of the party? I think rand Paul has a more defined political philosophy than Rubio. Paul has a belief system and knows how to articulate. Can Paul's message become the republican message? Liberty in economics and personal liberty. will social conservatives accept that message?

Paul is relatively conservative on social issues.

Not surprising, DM. A lot of young people were present. Romney won it 4 times in the past and Ron Paul twice.

It still remains to be seen what real impact CPAC has on the political landscape. Mostly, it's a great conf for young ppl, but doesn't do much other than energize them with good speeches.

Funny the antithesis of Romney won the straw poll this year.

We'll see what, if any, change occurs as a result of the conf.

Conservatives that demand someone agree with them on all the issues are going to be continually disappointed. My guy never wins the primaries because I vote for the candidate that best represents my views. Im a right winger and oroud of it. Unfortunately conservative values across the board cannot win presidential elections. I can believe in a Rand Paul presidency. At this point ANYTHING will be an improvement. If someone with a spine can be in the Oval Office and actually LEAD, I'm all for that.
