Exclamation Urgent Alert - this can be serious !

Please share this info to help others avoid (or fix) a serious computer problem !

URGENT ALERT:

There is a particularly nasty computer virus going around called "Live Security Platinum" that when it gets on someones computer it disguises itself to look like an anti-virus software.

What makes it particularly nasty is that keeps your real anti-virus software from working and can even make it extremely difficult to download and use new anti-virus software.

After much research I have found a solution that seems to have worked very well for many people -

It requires using 2 different (and free) software programs to remove all of the virus, and a 3rd (free) software to help protect from any new attacks in the future.

The first software has the ability to fight against the virus's defenses enough to remove enough of it to disable it.

The second software removes the rest of the virus files the 1st software didn't remove.

The third software is a very good software to protect against future attacks.

It would be good to download the first 2 softwares and keep them on a USB flash drive just in case the "Live Security Platinum" does manage to get on your computer later on.

IF that virus is already on a computer, you may likely have to download the first software from another computer and then transfer via USB flashdrive to the affected computer)

(these softwares have more featured paid versions, but their free versions work just fine to remove that virus, so do not feel any need to get anything other than the free versions unless you really want to)

First download and use "Comodo Cleaning Essentials" -

http://www.comodo.com/business-secur...essentials.php

then to more completely remove the malware files download and run "Malwarebytes" -

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

then to have an ongoing protection against further attacks download and use "AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012" -

(which was PC Magazine's top AV freeware choice for 2012)

(you can research these softwares as well as "Live Security Platinum" online if you feel the need to verify this all first hand)

Re: Urgent Alert - this can be serious !

This is an old old VERY old malware program that just get's repackaged ever year

The trick is, when you visit a website and a pop up says "warning, potential harmful virus has been detected on your computer. Click yes to delete and remove'

When you click YES you are actually downloading the fake anti-virus program

Comodo firewall is pretty good but the rest of their stuff has never been known to be good.

Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to get rid of infections

  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Also, get SiteAdvisor or WOT to help avoid sites with malicious content.

Re: Urgent Alert - this can be serious !

I also recommend malwarebytes. I have used it when virus was on my laptop. As far as free anti virus programs go I have had great success with the free version of Avast on the computers I have used it on. Ironically the time I had to use malwarebytes as part of the effort to rid a laptop of a virus the laptop had no viruses as long as it was protected by Avast. It was when I got a good "deal of the day" on McAfee or Norton and had one of them in place that the infection occurred.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
