Robbery update
Dear Friends in the Homeland:
Wanted to give an update on what is going on after the robbery and all we have been through. However first I want to mention that right in the heat of trials we had a wonderful ladies conference where people received the Holy Ghost and were baptized in the saving name of Jesus.
Two of our daughters in laws were a part of the team that spoke and my how I was so proud of them and another daughter in law was the host of the conference.
Also we just ended our pastoral conference and it was so great. Many timely messages and Bible Studies were shared.
The car as I mentioned was found but had a lot of damage and repairing it is out of the question. Just one of the needed parts cost around 5000 dollars! They stripped it and messed up the gears and many other things so after talking with our pastor we have decided to give it as down payment on another one and as the Lord supplied the needs for us to pay the last one off He will supply once again. Sometimes it seems we borrow from Peter to pay Paul as the old saying goes but the Lord always supplies and the needs are meet. The police also felt we did not need to keep the van as the robbers still had the keys and all the original documents and that could endanger our lives. (They did discover it is a very dangerous car gang)
So the one we have picked out is a 2007 Mountaineer. Almost like the other one. The other one had a diesel engine and this one is gasoline. The diesel engine would be a lot more so we do not want to go real far into debt but we do need a strong car that will hold up over the many backloads we travel. Even so it is 15 thousand dollars more! (The prices of cars are out of this world over here) However it is very confortable and equipped to go into the backlands, which is a must for us. Disregard any other ideas we had as we mentioned several choses we feel this is the one best prepared for our needs.
We are still working on the paper work of the other one as the robbers stole it out of the glove compartment. That means a LOT of red tape here and a lawyer! And of course money…lol…
However that is just a little stone along the journey. We are determined to press on and go until the Lord says, Come up higher.
Of course we never saw our money or Raul Jr’s money, credits cars and other things again but we are thankful no one was killed.
We were without insurance…just an oversight on our part. It had run out and we had forgot the date.
We just dedicated a new rented building in one of the villages of Maceio, In Belem do Para we are remodeling our church there for our special December services. In Campinas we are working on the retaining wall and enlarging Brother Raul Jr’s church. In Maceio we are putting in a ceiling in the Santos Dumont church, we only had a roof. It is looking nice. We are also repairing the roof of another church and as usual working on several building projects.
There are always scores of projects going on. We stay so busy.
We want to thank you for your faithful prayers for our ministry here in Brazil. God is doing amazing things and in this letter we want to ask you to praise God with us for what He is doing and that helps you understand why the devil is working so hard.
We want to thank those that have helped in so many projects over the years. Your help is valuable to the Kingdom of God.
There are many things yet to mention but will leave it for next time. We love and appreciate you homeland supporters.
Today we are traveling to another area of Brazil...do keep us in your prayers.
Brother and sister Raul Alvear Sr
