I am sorry for seeming smug. A few years back, I was in Kansas City and I visited IHOP. I did not really care for what I felt there, and I really did not like the speaker, (Lou)....it felt like demons to me. The friend I was with went outside after her first 'assesment', I figured I should at least bear with it and get the full experience before jumping to any conclusions. When I went outside I could not find my friend. She showed up in a few minutes, and told me she had gone to pray with a young lady who had gotten very mixed-up by what was happening in the chuch to the point of a tramatic experience. I also did not care for the fact that it was very 'political'....and was clearly intended to sway masses of very young people to mass hysteria and political opinion. If ever I felt a leadership twisting the gospel to it's own means and interpretation, this was the place. I truely felt that this was a place that Jesus would have chased the leaders out with a whip of chords.
In my honest opinion.....Lou is a likely candidate for an exorcism.....I did not meet the gentleman who started the church, He was not there that night, so I remain open that this church 'could' have redeeming qualities.

Great music in this video though. Have you ever been to the circus? The 'show' is fantastic.....but backstage at the 'greatest show on earth', are some of the most troubled and dangerous souls imaginable....

Dangerous and troubled souls? Give me the lowdown. Not rumors. Dont send me the "Apologetics" links. You say you went there ONE night? YOU tell me what YOU have seen and heard. What I have seen and heard is a group where practically anyone would gain in the area of loving God.

Let me just say that I have a somewhat different image of my Lord Jesus. The things I experienced there, do not seem to be how my Lord will come. I am willing to have my Lord come...in the manner that 'He will come'.....not in the manner of 'my interpretaion'....but I did not see Him there. I tried...but it just did not line up.

Well since you are being very vague I guess I wont learn anything. Nothing says you must like IHOP. I haven't got much out of Lou's words myself. However my overall experience with IHOP which is watching their live webstream over the past 2 years + has been very helpful to me. Lou Engels has only preached there 2 or 3 times since I have been watching.

Where IHOP excels is the teaching of commitment to Jesus. It is the best Charismatic Church I have known in my years of knowing that movement. They teach strongly the importance of "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength". They stress this more than ANY CHURCH I have known in any of the Christian camps.

They teach a very good message on sermon on the mount holiness and have the accurate end time message of the post trib rapture. I am getting to be an old man. I am deeply moved when I see hundreds or thousands of young people lost in worshipping Christ. When I see this I dont think "circus". I think "loving Jesus".

On the down side they are strongly Trinitarian. I pray God will guide them into all truth.

Meanwhile I will continue to soak up the blessings I get from praising the Lord with them. There just might be a few like me here at AFF who will likewise be edified.
