This time of year, you have an excellent reflection of where your heart is, every time you approach a Salvation Army kettle/bell ringer; one that speaks volumes. Which way do you look? Pretty much says it all, but what is your response to their "Merry Christmas!" they throw at you?
Trust that that bell ringer couldn't care less whether you put a donation in the kettle--they get no credit for a bigger haul. It is quite interesting, as a bell ringer, to note the various states of being and see the...panoply? of personal emotions that are projected onto the bell-ringer, which are purely that--personal emotions, happening all in (your) head. Merry Christmas!
(Santa...Satan. Do you even have to think about it?)

Huh?
The whole Christmans thing... We used to do the 'regular' Christmas...hurry around like little ants- cleaning, shopping, cooking, decorating... and spending, spending, spending! We had joys and sorrows realated to this day. People we loved and people we dispised coming to visit... Stress at an all time high.
We backed out of the whole deal many years ago.
Now we enjoy the time off work, the chance to spend extra time in prayer and bible study. The people we love who are also off work and are able to come share a meal and fellowship. Gifting the tiny ones in our family with our time and maybe even a small present from us... Because they know that Santa works at the mall and lives in an apartment in the ghetto and that toys come from China.
People ask me if I miss all the traditions.... hahahaha!... NO!
But one thing I still love is the chance to give to the Salvation Army outside Walmart. Since in my young life I had need of their services and will never forget the dignity they afforded a young abandond mother and child. I never miss a chance to empty my wallet into the kettle as long as there is something in it. So how do you see that bbyrd?
