Ten People Baptized Tonight!

Every few months our church has a Worship night which is 3 hours of praise and worship along with prayer, scripture readings ,etc.

Tonight 2 people were scheduled to be baptized just a few days after we baptized 21 or 22 people in our regular service. When the Pastor invited anybody else that wanted to be baptized tonight to do so we ended up baptizing a total of 10 people! 8 adults and 2 children.

It is such a blessing to see people dedicate themselves to the Lord and identify themselves with Him in baptism.

I had a rough afternoon and needed the blessing this service gave.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

That's good and all, but if the redemptive blood of the Lamb of God was applied at baptism, it's worthless blood until they speak in tongues.....according to some.

Re: Ten People Baptized Tonight!

My pastor just posted on FB that among the ten folks baptized tonight was a former atheist, a former addict, and someone who had been involved with witchcraft.

The last two Sundays first service have been standing room only (probably around 150 in the sanctuary and 180 total with Chilren's Church next door). Because probably 80% of the church is 30 and younger and maybe half of those are in college we see a big dip during MTSU breaks.

Starting January we are going to a third service on Sunday to handle the growth. I see a lot more 30ish families coming which will help balance out the demographics and not impact us as much when the University is on break.

The church is doing great to only be 2 1/2 years old.

LOL!!! I will take that under prayerful consideration. My burden right now is more to help with getting new seating as my aging butt does not like the folding metal chairs we currently have.
