My Iron Was Left On for Weeks!!
Well, it's a wonder my house is still standing and not burned to a crisp. My son in law was upstairs working at the desk and happened to hear the iron make a crackling sound. He went over and looked at it, sitting on the ironing board, and it was on. We think it had been on over a month!! This is the iron that I keep for guests only, and there is no telling when it was used last. But it's been at least a month. Scary stuff.........
Thank God for His protection!!!! Now if He would just do something about my electric bill.

Irons reach temp and turn off, and on again to keep temp. Only problem would have been if the iron was left face down.

No, they don't all do that. I purchased one that does turn off automatically, because I always forget to turn it off. Thank God it didn't short out and cause a fire!

Re: My Iron Was Left On for Weeks!!
Sorry, sherri. I didn't mean off, as in turn off completely. Just temp control.

Re: My Iron Was Left On for Weeks!!
Sherri, we are at that age where we have to get everything with automatic switchoffs! I won't buy a coffee maker or iron without them.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I wish I had a switch like that to go to sleep sometimes.

I do have some "turn off" switches... but we don't have to go into that.
