Being Christ Like?
Are there any Bible references that would indicate that Christ ever acted like this?
A recent quote on AFF ........
"I will be visiting my apostolic, tongue talking, pew jumping, running in the isle, and one God flag waving Pentecostals."
Didn't he set the crowds down in an orderly fashion in groups when teaching them? (Why was this noted in scripture that he did this?) Did Jesus ever shout, jump, etc?
Just askin'...........

Did Jesus ever use pews, platforms, PA systems, drive a car, take offerings, use tracts, have a bible..it's all wrong because Jesus didn't do it

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Well, obviously they didn't have PA systems, cars, tracts, and modern pews in those days but that doesn't mean they didn't jump the rocks and run the gullies while Jesus spoke. But then again, there is no mention of it, so maybe things were a bit more orderly.

Prax.... I didn't mean it was wrong as such. I'm just interested in any scriptural references that would indicate this was something that Christ encouraged or are a lot of our actions simply how we choose to worship and respond and have nothing to do with Christ's day and their way of worshipping.
I'm aware of what Acts says about the day of Pentecost and the outpouring then and how they acted. (Of course I don't think I've ever seen a drunk, jump a pew! lol)
Just thinkin' out loud. What does the scripture say about this? Did Christ give us any examples himself on how we should act in church?

Re: Being Christ Like?
1 Cor. 14 looks like a guideline.
14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
14:25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
14:27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
14:28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
14:30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
14:31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
Nothing about running and jumping, ect. Since they had no loud music it probably was not being done.

Good response Michael. It would seem that Paul was concerned about what some one would think about the church if this was going on when they were in attendance. 1 Cor. 14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
Does this apply to any of our other actions? (will they not say that ye are mad?)

Re: Being Christ Like?
Jesus, who was also the God of the OT, shut Michals womb so that she couldn't bear children, because she mocked David for his extravagant praise.
Jesus told the people waving psalms, that if they held the peace the rocks would cry out in praise.
Luke 19
35And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.
36And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
37And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
38Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
39And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
40And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

Re: Being Christ Like?
David was a man after God's own heart.
2 Samuel 6:13-15
King James Version (KJV)
13And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.
14And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
15So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
