Jesus and Spirit Baptism
Was Jesus filled with the Holy Spirit from birth, was he filled with the HS at water baptism or was he the same person as the HS and did not need to be filled with the HS?

Re: Jesus and Spirit Baptism
well if you believe in Oneness, Jesus was God manifested in the flesh, and there is One Spirit, so he did not need to be filled.
if you believe in the Trinity, you Also would believe Jesus is God, and his Spirit is the Spirit of the HG, so he still doesn't need to be filled.
If you believe in God and Jesus was his son but not God, then you might believe that he was filled when the spirit descended upon him like a dove at his baptism.
Can't think of any other scenarioes atm.

Re: Jesus and Spirit Baptism
Yep that is pretty much it. If he is God, then no need to be filled with the Spirit of God.

He is God incarnate.

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Jesus and Spirit Baptism
I think the first three responses pretty much answered the question posed by this thread!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

In scripture, I think it's in John when he went to be tempted it says he was full of the Holy Ghost.

cindy is right. I did a search and found luke 4:1:
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
was this from birth? how does this affect oneness christology?

Re: Jesus and Spirit Baptism
just had a bit of revelation, it was the hs in christ doing the miracles. john 3:34 says:
For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure [unto him].

I still don't understand how, as a human, he walked on water. can the holy ghost do that?

Jesus baptism was very important.
Christ/messiah means annointed.
Jesus did no recorded miracles until he was annointed by the Holy Spirit
His baptism in the jordan was not for sin, it was a ritual washing as a priest would do, God sent the Spirit and Jesus was annointed.
God always sent His Spirit on those He annointed. think about it. why call Him messiah which means annointed if he didnt have to be.
after His annointment he started the ministry and miracles. Not until then
Luke 3:21-22
21] When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened [22] and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."
acts 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Lets look at another Verse that only the messiah(annointed one can claim)
luke 4:18
18 “ The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,[a]
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
even at one point Jesus asked his disciples can you drink from my cup and be baptized with the baptism i am baptized with? and Jesus eventually said yes you can
