Atheists Sue Texas Governor

http://dailysentinel.com/news/texas/...f6caa3a77.html

I say he should sue them for trying to stop him from practicing his religion, and religious persecution.

No matter how the court rules, God will have the final say.

its not a violation of church and state should be thrown out. even politicians have a right to religious freedom, just because they are in a position of authority doesnt mean everything they do on a personal level is backed by the state.

The Freedom from Religion Foundation argues in its lawsuit filed in Houston that Republican Gov. Rick Perry's day of prayer and fasting would violate the constitutional ban on the government endorsing a religion.
Did they name the religion he endorsed? No? Did they show damages? No?

The constitution is over Washington. It says the Federal gubment shouldn't

Quote:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ....", while Article VI specifies that "no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

Yes, this would be an issue with the Texas State Constitution.

What does the Texas constitution say?

See most states even allow the Gov to name hollidays. Maybe not go so far as giving state workers the day off with pay.

The courts have ruled that the protections found in the Bill of Rights and the rest of the U.S. Constitution are also applicable at all levels of of government.

That being said, the First Amendment does guarantee the the "free exercise thereof..." as well. This will probably just be another "show trial" that doesn't even get as far as a trial. A true waste of time.

The atheist would have been better served just thanking the Governor for his prayers or "thoughts and intentions."
