God was their king, judges was raised by God for specific needs at specific times for Israel

What was the difference between a king and a judge? A judge was a leader raised up by God, usually to meet a specific need in a time of crisis. When the crisis was over, usually the judge just went back to doing what he was doing before. A king not only held his office as king as long as he lived; he also passed his throne down to his descendants

. In Judges 8, Gideon was offered the throne over Israel. He refused it, saying “I will not rule over you, nor shall my son rule over you; the Lord shall rule over you.” (Judges 8:23) This was the heart of all the judges, and why Israel went some 400 years in the Promised Land without a king.

samuel the last judge raised by God, samuel set his 2 sons over the people as judges (not God)however they did not follow the ways of the their father and because of there desires, the people wanted a king to be leader, and not just that they wanted a king like everyone else.

Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”
but its evident, with Gideon that God is their King and the judges was sent to do the will of God during a specific times and need.

God and Samuel discussed this. Why did Israel want a king? Just to be like the rest of the world.

Isn’t Roku considered “On-Demand”?

I will put this out there.
God did not want a family transfer of power (father to son).
He wanted a spiritual transfer of power.

To contain the power of evil. Judges raise for the task and then leave. Good kings do good things, but bad kings have far reaching powers to bring evil and persuade their kingdom to do evil, because they stay for a while, and their heirs, and form loyal armies, etc.., increasing their chance of success.

That's the same reason why the Tower of Babel was frustrated, and why nations were created, to contain the power of evil. When nations unite under an empire or with strong alliances that give too much power to a few, the Bible calls them "beasts".

When Israel or Judah had wicked kings, see the terrible impact it had in the nation and how they persecuted the just and persuaded people to depart from God. Thankfully, because we have nations and borders, persecuted people can find refuge in other countries.

It all comes down to our sinful condition.

There could be of course more reasons than that.
