Re: Ray Stevens on Obama's Budget :)

It was a funny song, but it was the Bush years that he was singing about. If anyone has listened to the news this past week it is the republicans that won't budge to work something out to help our country out of debt. In viewing the viedo there was the rich folks that he was singing about, not the working folks of America. The rich keeps getting more and more and the rest of us are getting less and less but that is what the republicans want.

My questions are why won't the republicans tax the rich people? Why do they want to mess us social security and medicare that helps so many people.

That is a very dishonest question.
Rich people have been taxed and many pay taxes. It is many middle and lower income people that do not pay any taxes.

Most of the accusations of "messing with social security" are false. They are just liberal media headlines. There is no reason under the sun that mast people should retire at age 62 and start drwaing out social security they and their employer paid in.

Just remember 50% of social security and Medicare was paid by the employer and NOT the worker. That is another example of "rich" paying taxes the left never considers. In fact, more employers would love to have more business so they could need more workers, and pay more Fica and payroll taxes.

Sonny, it is this kind of thinking that I will never understand. Why do you think that taxing the rich will make them less rich? I am not trying to belittle you in any way but this logic is so flawed my 6 year old daughter could understand. What are they teaching people in schools nowadays? Do people even learn how to think anymore?

We are taxed on "income". Taxing the rich will not reduce their income. If you are on social security you aren't paying a dime in income taxes unless you have other income. This line about the rich keep getting richer has absolutely nothing to do with taxes. If it does please help me understand how taxing the rich is going to help someone else. The rich keep getting richer because they are better at making money and usually work a lot harder.

Also, and I doubt any of what I am saying will help because I am not sure most people really care to know the truth.

Just because a person is wealthy doesn't mean he is keeping others from having money. A wealthy person doesn't just hoard their wealth. They buy things and spend that money. One rich person will pay in a year in taxes what a middle class person will pay in their lifetime.

The truth is that most rich people you don't even know they are rich. They are just normal everyday folks and unless you could look at their tax return you would never know.

Now, taxes will affect one thing. If the people who can make the most money are punished to much for going after money they will find other ways of making money that will not punish them with high taxes. People are smart and they will do other things or they will just decide to make less money. Why make more when you know it will be taxed?

Finally, I prepare tax returns so I see what people pay in taxes. Remember, it isn't just income tax. That rich person who owns a million dollar house is paying for your kids to go to school. Imagine a person who owns a million dollar house and 20 acres. You may get upset and think that they are taking something from you but just property taxes alone could be $35,000 a year.

We are all better off by allowing those who want to break their backs and make the money to make more of it. They aren't hurting us but helping.

Should taxes be raised on the rich. Maybe. I am a conservative and I think people should be able to keep their money.

One other thing, ever notice that it is the ultra rich who are always saying they want more taxes. Do you ever wonder why that is? Just think about it. A billionaire wants more taxes because the safer the system is the better it is for him. He already has his wealth and doesn't have to survive on income. If taxes go up he will just pay himself less of a salary out of his corporation and hold onto his wealth and become wealthier and wealthier while the man who is out creating jobs and trying making the economy grow is paying the tax.

There is no wealth tax in the country other than the estate tax. You do not pay taxes on your increase in wealth.

Sonny do you have a job? If so, when you go to work do you do the very best you can so that you can get promotions and make more money, or do just do whatever it takes to get through the day. Just productive enough to not get fired, not good enough to get promoted? Do you expect the government to support you, or tax others who have worked hard for their money to be even more over-taxed to support you?

Democrats are whiners, they are not for the "working" man, they are afraid of work, and this whining about taxing the rich is hypocrisy since several of Obama's democratic cabinet members have been exposed to be tax cheats.

I don't agree with all the morals of the republicans, nither do I look to politicians for hope or change. Hope comes from God and change will come when the church preaches the Word of God. But one thing I will say is that the republican philosphy has proven to be a better economic model time and time again.

BTW, I am working class.
