In 2012 Obama Has to Prove a Negative

In 2012 Obama must argue that the policies he put in place may not have turned the economy around immediately but that they managed to keep the country out of the economic collapse it was headed toward. Obama’s argument on the economy will boil down to this: "You should have seen how bad it would have been."

Proving a negative, that things might be bad but it could have been much worse, is a tough argument. People tend to see things as they are, not as they might have been. The statistics are the statistics.

In 14 Swing States from the 2008 election, unemployment has risen in all of them since October 2009. When one looks at all of the economic categories, there's very little to crow about.

With all of the snickering about the so-called dismal GOP field, ultimately this bad economy will be the deciding factor. Richard Nixon's corpse would beat Obama at this point.

PS-Newt Gingrich appears to be perfectly suited for the presidency: his campaign has already racked up $1 million in debt!

Ben Bernanke and the Fed are the real ones in charge, so this is all a moot point. The founding fathers warned against us falling under the power of the banks. We did it anyway. We have passed the point of no return. Both Dems and Repubs kneel to their masters, the bankers.

I take it you have not studied economics. Can you list 3 things that would create solid sustained growth?

I know one thing we could do to bring this country back to the way the founding fathers intended--dismantle the banks. Our political leaders, both Dem and Repub, are both too beholden to them to actually do it. The banks are the beast. You can't conduct one purchase or one sale without their involvement.

I am sure you could deal with home buying waiting untill your coffee can was filled with gold in the back yard, One of the things that grows the economy is the velocity of the movement of money. without banks, it moves very slowly. In fact without commercial or investment banking, you would have no car nor miost would not own homes. There is a lot of gold stolen by priates at the bottom of the ocean when we had no bank funds transfers.

There are many kinds of banks. I take it you don't know. First of all in your own words, can you define the difference between an investment banker and a commercial banker?

And from your memory can you recall 2-3 examples of banks during the melt down influenced by shorts and mark to market rules that were re classified as commercial banks?
