Mistake or Freudian Slip?
I cannot begin to defend this kind of "mistake" from Beck-- but I guess some could, right?
It was just a mistake... or was it?

Libs like yourself are seeking something to trigger their anger.
Number 1 is Osama and Obama are very much alike. Intelligent people see that. #2 you don't have the clinical background to understand Freudian slips.
Nobody has to defend other peoples slip of the tongue. Errors are the foundation of the comedy business.
Visiting 57 states, Obama would most likely agree with me. .

He said Obama, then he corrected himself with bin laden, not osama.
It seems planned-- as if he wanted to spark outrage.
Maybe it is best to not give him the response that he may have been hoping for.
Little children and small minded people love attention.

Nope, I don't watch Beck. I heard about it and then I researched it.
In the context of the whole speech, the President acknowledged everyone involved, even stating we should give thanks to the men on the ground who carried out the operation.
It wasn't just a one -liner-- he dwelled on that topic for a while.
He acknowledged others too.
He made it clear that he was the one who made the call, that he was the one that made the decision.
Nothing wrong with stating the truth.
If the operation had gone bad, leading to a catastrophic mishap, we would want him to take responsibility for that too.

JD is part of the problem. You posted inflamatory "key words"
You leap for the opportunity to accuse folks you despise and stir strife.
Ann Coulter covers this well in her books.

Beck stands to be accused for his repeated slips of the tongue and repeated flawed judgments, demonstrated by his own words and accusations.
What? Beck hasn't earned his reputation? Is Beck a victim?
Beck said " Obama", then he corrected himself with " bin laden", not " osama."
It seems planned-- as if Beck wanted to spark outrage.
Maybe it is best to not give him the response that he may have been hoping for.

Re: Mistake or Freudian Slip?
I was listening to Fox this morning when a retired USAF officer used the phrase, "tar baby" while discussing the policies of the Obama Administration.
Even if he wasn't referring to a specific person, the use of that specific term in the context of President Obama is highly offensive.
This is the new kind of racism though-- the kind that smacks of insult but when the insulted speak out about it, they are marginilzed and accused of crying wolf.
There is a reason that FOX News has the reputation it has.

Re: Mistake or Freudian Slip?
Jermyn,
There are a host of commentators who have, inadvertently, said "Obama", instead of, "Osama". I don't have time to pull up each one, but people on both networks and on the radio have slipped with that. It's easy to do during fast moving commentary.
As to the "tar baby" comment by a retired USAF officer, I'd have to view the clip. That is just too incredulous to believe without hearing it myself. If he said that in a disparaging way - shame on him! And that has nothing to do with Fox News. He is being interviewed. He isn't on the Board or employed by the network.
Anyway, I haven't cared much for Beck after he threw Andrew Breitbart under the bus over the Shirley Sherrod deal.

Apparently Fox has a fine reputation. The leftists like yourself, Olberman, Tingles and others watch it. They sure have the ratings that declare the reputation.
