"Nowhere does the Old Testament declare that Jesus would be called a Nazarene, yet Matthew tells us ". . .that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the
prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene," Matt. 2:23." - William Arnold III.
Is this a universal theme? Hinted at by several prophets?
Besides
Isaiah 53, is there any evidence that Jesus would be a Nazarene?
Nathanael asked, "Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?" (
John 1:46) And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see."
When the identity of Christ was in question, the Jews asked, "Shall Christ come out of Galilee?" (
John 7:41) Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?"
Weren't Nazarene's despised and known for paganism?
This particular servant in
Isaiah 53 would be despised ( Jesus ).
