Kenneth Phillips note on facebook
Rev. Kenneth Phillips posted this note on facebook 3/23/11. Your thoughts.....
Chain Thing, The Main Thing, For Young Ears
by Kenneth Phillips on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 11:17am
Why don't you young spiritual "Libyans and Egyptians" throw off the chains of traditions that have bound us and divided us? Inquiry has discovered the main point of our "breach" is: "How do we share the number "3?"
The Spirit Camp is divided into two groups, "Trinity" and "Oneness." Trinity, 3 persons in 1 manifestation; Oneness, 1 Person in 3 manifestations. Literally, for centuries, this has caused Trinity to be afraid of the Name of Jesus and Oneness to be afraid of "Father." Let us forget aged debate and look at revolution illumination. Oneness or "Jesus Only," is incorrect. It cannot be correct because it leaves out God as creator and Holy Ghost in regeneration. So we cringe when see Father or hear Father! This means our prayer power is devoid of creative power and regenerating power."Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ by your Spirit" is complete. Trinity, on the other hand, refuses to use The Name of the Lord Jesus Christ in baptism. This means nothing has been invoked that has power to wash away sins. Now, you must understand the Mubarak ears and Qaddafi ears will not receive this. Religious, political kingdoms, have been built upon the foundation of the House of Cloe. If we suddenly agreed to merge our divisions into the Unity of Original Faith, we would destroy the House of Cloe. Then the "Democracy of Theocracy," would claim again, for Him, His Prodigal Earth.
On another note, "why don't you young Baptist, who speak with tongues, get out of the closet?"

The young and old, tongue speaking Baptist are already out of the closet. Otherwise, this is KP being KP, dramatic and theatrical, which makes for inspiring and emotional speaking.

Re: Kenneth Phillips note on facebook
My Baptist FIL recently died and his funeral was preached by his relatively young (maybe early 40ish) pastor. My UPC SIL had a long conversation with him and found out that he speaks in tongues. Not to good for his SBC status if that became public I am sure.
I found KP's statement very interesting and an evolution in theology for him. I think he historically has been pretty hard on trinitarians. Looks like he discovered what I did, that the UPC line that they believe in three Gods is just flat out wrong. Doesn't mean there are not differences in Oneness and Trinity doctrine but monotheism is not one of those differernces.

Titus2woman on AFF
"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I don't think that Oneness have ever said Trinitarians believe in 3 Gods. We have stated that their view CAN LEAD to a Tri-Theistic view.
As for his statement, I think he has lost focus of the Oneness View. We never deny any of the Titles. We are not afraid of the title "Father".
Also note, that for years Baptist have been silently converting to Tongue Talking, Jesus Baptizing (as well as other organizations) by the droves. They just have not jumped ship and have tried to push it in their organization.

Re: Kenneth Phillips note on facebook
Depends on what you call Trinitarianism. Many views are Oneness while some are tritheistic. Orthodox leads to nothing but a hybrid tritheism.

I am not so sure about that Norcal.
How many Oneness pray to the "Father in heaven" as Jesus instructed? Some do of course, but many simply start by saying "Jesus". I do think many are uncomfortable praying to God the Father in Jesus name.
