Closed Forums

We've all heard that Preachers forums need to be closed to the public. But I've never seen anything in the bible that makes "the ministry" a secretive club. I've never seen anything that draws this great secretive divide between those that claim to be "preachers" and those that don't make that claim.

But perhaps there is a good reason for this. I can't think of any reason. What sort of things do preachers talking about that the don't want non-preachers to read?

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Closed Forums

Preachers perhaps they feel they have a kinship with other preachers and want to discuss ministerial subjects alone.

Well that bothers me because that creates a class system within the church. We might as well be Roman Catholic.

Still what sort of ministerial subjects requires being alone among themselves and not in view of others to read? You can make a forum open to reading and still be "alone" in discussion, meaning nobody else can respond

Tithing, disobedience to rule, can't get enough help at the church, don't know how we will pay the bills, other churches not like theirs, don't know if I can hang on and hold out any longer, feel like giving up,we must be in the last times my church is getting smaller, don't like Joel Olsten, debate of the scriptures, can't seem to get my people to understand anything, No I'm just kidding!
A bunch of preachers from different churches had Thanks Giving dinner together. One of them said" I bet Jesus would have liked turkey" The other preacher said" no he wouldn't" Then one asked, " why wouldn't he, Well said the other preacher," If he ate thanks giving dinner he would have to go to the bathroom. The other preacher said" don't you believe Jesus went to the bathroom?" No I don't replied the one, The other preacher sitting on the side said with a laugh, " Then he must have been a big fellow"

This is a true story!!

Re: Closed Forums

Prax, why do you and the rest of the admins have a closed section to discuss things?
You are promoting a class system here you see.

Re: Closed Forums

I agree there in no class distinction in the church,no such thing as clergy and laity, but I guess like minded folks like to hang together.

While I know you were kidding, I think the one problem with "the church" is we carried over the clergy mindset from Rome that creates two classes of people.

I think you must belong to a different Church than I do.
A Preacher up here is taught to be a Servant first and foremost.
