The Wisdom of Kid Rock
He recently said:
"We don't want a bunch of pot-smoking hippies running our country and we don't want a bunch of bible-thumping, 'don't do anything but worship our Lord' types, either. There's a lot people that are somewhere in between."

That covers a lot of people.

Re: The Wisdom of Kid Rock
Anyone who looks to Kid Rock for any kind of guidance is sorely lacking in judgement in my opinion! LOL
I am amazed why anybody thinks these uneducated (for the most part) celebrities have any credibility.
In this instance he does speak some truth as a large part of America is not Evangelical Fundamentalist Christian and they don't understand them as they have only been fed stereotypical and for the most part untrue information. Because of that they fear politicians who actually have any kind of strong religious belief system.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

? Sometimes what those dumb celebrities say actually makes sense. This is one of those cases. A large part of America understands exactly what Evangelical Fundamentalist Christians are like and they hope one never gets to be president. Americans are not afraid of politicians with religion... they are only afraid of extremists.

Yes I watched that when the comment was made. It's again the spirit of compromise which is a type of antichrist spirit that is to come. But in the world and in the world government one can expect such ignorance. Our government right now is so much like Rome it probably won't make much difference who is running the country things are still going to be unjust.

This coincides nicely with a conversation I had with a conservative friend the other night. At one point, I said that I felt President Obama was good at working with both sides, and was able to compromise in order to get things done.
He responded that was not a good thing, in his opinion. His reasoning was he wanted the politician he selected to push their agenda and not be moderate.
This might have been a reflection on our personal attitudes and not our political parties in whole, but it was interesting to me.
On a side note, I am glad Kid Rock can say interesting things, because his music has been decidedly uninteresting as of late, lol.

Your friend wouldn't be saying that about a liberal politician that was pushing an agenda and not compromising.

Re: The Wisdom of Kid Rock
Twispy, I am a conservative but one in the Ronald Reagan mode who believes getting 1/2 or 2/3 of what you want is better than getting nothing at all. This requires compromise.
When the Republicans gained control of the congress back in 1994 for the first time in over 40 years it forced Bill Clinton to abandon his plan to socialize medicine.
Clinton then realized that if he wanted to get reelected he had to do two things. First to get things done so he would need be seen as a successful President and secondly he had to move to the right to match the direction of the country.
Thankfully Clinton was more concerned about his political future than any ideology so he moved right and worked with the Republicans. Out of that we saw a tremendous welfare reform bill that before the Repubs took congress the Dems would have never even considered.
I am all for the President and Congress getting things done that I care about even if I can only get a portion of what I want. For that reason I hope Obama and Congress will compromise and get things done. The only problem right now is the Dems still control the Senate.
