10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
Why dont we hear teaching about this? If one commits a sin they could be destroyed. Seems like Christians should be aware of this.
Yes we should be fearful about commiting about what the bible labels as sin.

There they can find plenty of fault.
I could invite you to a list of churches where members are made VERY aware of this.
Consider the incidents the verses refer to though--all part of the Exodus. They didn't just commit fornication, they were having an orgy while Moses was on the Mount getting the Ten Commandments. They wanted to kill Moses. They disobeyed what God had just told them to do. Very few times (the man picking up sticks; any others?) was someone killed at God's command for one sin. It was when they pursued sin that they were destroyed. Though we shouldn't make a habit of sin, and should be careful, we should not live in terror that if we make a mistake we're doomed.
As for your title: 1 Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

If we are involved in the works of the flesh we cannot inherit eternal life.
However if one falls into sin,we have an advocate but we don't live a lifestyle of habitual sinning.

And don't forget why many are weak and sickly, and many "sleep".

The wages of sin is still death,so we steer clear of true sin.
We don't walk around in fear, but we don't live a anything goes lifestyle either.

I don't fear sin, I just don't have any desire to commit it much less practice it. Why would any born again spirit filled christian want to commit sin in the first place. Is that in their nature? Jesus gave us his spirit to have power over sin and Paul said," sin no longer has power over you". Getting a right mental attitude and picture of what and who you are might get the victory that a lot of Christians are struggling for.
As we walk in relationship with Jesus, our nature is changed and from this changed nature our desire for sin is diminished day by day.
Godly living should be a natural outflow of maturity in Christ. We tend to be drawn to what we focus on, if we fear and focus on sin, sin is empowered. If we focus on Jesus, the Word and His presence, we are empowered to live accordingly.
