"It's a done deal" in Wisconsin
Looks like the Democrats run away and hide tactic has failed!
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...03-09-19-45-22
ADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Wisconsin Senate succeeded in voting Wednesday to strip nearly all collective bargaining rights from public workers, after Republicans discovered a way to bypass the chamber's missing Democrats and approve an explosive proposal that has rocked the state and unions nationwide.

Hope there isn't a blood bath. The republicans left the captiol under guard. They didn't think it was safe.
Now the democrats are crying that democracy was thwarted. Huh?
What about them leaving the state to avoid having to perform their duty?
That doesn't count because it was democrats doing it.

The Dems leave the state to stop a vote. The Republicans use the power of the law to convene the Senate and pass the bill. Kind of looks like the Dems knew it needed to be done and wanted someone else to take the fall for them. LOL!

It may be a done deal in some's opinions, but not by the law, it was done illegally by one one the republicans there. When the American people's rights are taken away from them, they will rise up. They may not can do anything now but protest, but when the next election comes, I wonder how many of those teachers, firemen and other union workers that voted republican, will do the it again. The LIGHT is really being shown on the darkness of the republicans. Really this is only helping the re-election of President Obama. All those northern states that is doing what the Wisconsin governor did, will probably go democrat in 2012.

Well if they're going to fight it they'll have to come back to Wisconsin to do it.

Re: "It's a done deal" in Wisconsin
As a Wisconsin resident, I am glad this is over with. Of course, there will probably be legal battles for a long time. However, the people voted in the Republicans and the Democrats had no right to try and win by minority rule. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I do hope voting out most collective bargaining rights for PUBLIC employees is not a mistake, but at this point in time, I do not see it to be so. We needed to get this resolved to get the budget deal done. I admire Scott Walker for doing what the last Democratic bunch did NOT do.....deal with the budget. Now, I just have to wait for my 5.8% pay cut.

Yep. There is always the chance that something like this will set a precedent that will be carried over into the private sector.
I believe that unions have been a help to this nation over the years but they are now very powerful and are, increasingly, more of a problem than a help.

Right. The dems seem to think Repubs are completely ignorant of the fact that we DON'T want to go back to the way things were before unions. But unions are way too powerful and costly at the present time. The pendulum has swung. The argument the dems are making is like saying if you wear make-up, next thing you know, you will be selling your body on the street. (Sorry )
But the thing is.....one move one direction does not necessarily set the direction forever.

Hmm.....let's see. The dems didn't do anything to help this budget deficit and Scott Walker did. Obama is making the deficit MUCH MUCH bigger than it's ever been and keeps giving money to the TOO BIG TO FAIL people. Hmm....tell me why anyone should vote for Obama again?

Yes, the evil Republicans did this just because they want to take money from the poor and give it to the rich. They want us to go back to the days of slavery. They want to take the Social Security money and spend it for more money for to bomb Libya. If we could just get rid of all of the Republicans, it would be heaven on earth. They want to drive women back to back alley abortions. They want to send homosexuals back into the closet.
Let's see, have I missed anything?
