Does this strike anyone else as odd?
Since the “whole world lieth in wickedness” ( I John 5:19) and we are no longer to live “according to the course of this world” ( Ephesians 2:2), and since worldliness is often communicated throughout society by the media, the United Pentecostal Church has expressed its concern that Christians may be influenced by the media to compromise biblical holiness. It has officially dealt with technology in three ways:
(1) allowed its use without voicing caution or disapproval (telephone, automobile, microwave, central heating, printing press, photography, computer, etc.); (2) accepted its use with warning and restrictions (radio, video); and (3) rejected its use as being unsuitable for Christians or for their homes (movie theater, television).

I understand that they're stating that it's allowable, but microwaves? Central heating? Shouldn't some things go without saying?

Without voicing caution is equal to going without saying.
I do think they should separate from the world and hinder the wearing of green and red knit sweaters for the Holidays. That is over the top.

Yeah, not seeing how microwaves are going to compromise biblical holiness.
An inconsistency that drives me nuts: video is allowed with caution, movie theaters are forbidden. WHY???? If you can choose your videos, you can choose the movies you view in a theater, right? Why does seeing it on a larger screen make it a sin?

I sent that quote to my family so they could have something to be thankful for.

I find it more than a little odd.

Re: Does this strike anyone else as odd?
Yeah,..it all seems pretty odd to me now. But years ago (middle 60's) Bro. James Kilgore himself showed us young folks a movie in his church. Yes,..that's right,...we got to see a MOVIE in the back of the church's fellowship hall. OK,...it was an old (and I do mean OLD) reel to reel silent film version of David and Bathsheeba (if I remember correctly). Anyhow,...it was horribly old and jerky,...no sound,...and bro. Kilgore manned the camera himself,..and Un-focused and "fuzzed" out anything he didn't want us to see. But hey,....we were thrilled to see a movie!!!!

The context of the paragraph is fine. They're just pointing out three ways to deal with technology, and giving examples for each type.
1. Allowed technology without voicing caution or disapproval (for innocuous types of technology)
2. Allowed use with restrictions or warnings (technology that must be controlled by the user to maintain a positive effect)
3. Restricted it altogether (technology whose effects are presumably mostly or completely negative)
Now, whether I agree with their conclusions on the specific items isn't the point; I'm just saying that the paragraph makes sense. "Here's technology, all flavors of it, and here's how we've dealt with it."
Simple enough.
