The Human Brain

Very interesting story.

The human brain is truly awesome.

A typical, healthy one houses some 200 billion nerve cells, which are connected to one another via hundreds of trillions of synapses. Each synapse functions like a microprocessor, and tens of thousands of them can connect a single neuron to other nerve cells. In the cerebral cortex alone, there are roughly 125 trillion synapses, which is about how many stars fill 1,500 Milky Way galaxies.

Before birth, the brain produces trillions more neurons and “synapses” (connections between the brain cells) than needed. These cells for the most part grew before birth.

Humans are not a product of random mutation and evolution.

I could as well if I had memorized a-z as z-a instead. To this day when alphabetizing anything I do my version of Potsy Weber singing the heart song as I figure out which letter comes before which (mostly the middle ones).

I could wile away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain

I'd unravel any riddle
For any individ'le
In trouble or in pain

Oh, I would tell you why
The ocean's near the shore
I could think of things I never thunk before
And then I'd sit and think some more

I would not be just a nuffin'
My head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain

Re: The Human Brain

You all should read the book - "The Spiritual Brain" written by some neuroscientists out of Montreal. Excellent read.

From reading the short article I get the impression that complexity level of the brain is at least two, probably three, orders of magnitude greater than what was thought even a year ago.
