My phone does not play mp4's??
Here's the situation. I can record video with my phone and it will save as an mp4. I can play these with no problem.
When I save mp4's to my memory card, insert the memory card into the phone, the mp4's on my memory card will play audio but the there I am not getting any picture. 
Any techies that may know why I am encountering this problem??

Berk,
It sounds like you're missing some kind of codec. Prax will probably be able to help you more....
What kind of phone do you have?

My question would be, "Does your phone make phone calls?" If the answer is "Yes", I would wonder what your problem is.
I am the proud owner of a FREE flip phone that......MAKES PHONE CALLS!!!!

Samsung Flight. I thnk the problem is that it does not have a windows os. I only need the mp4's to ul to fb. They are better quality than 3gpp's. But, 3gpp's work fine with the phone. I just don't want to dl a set of mp4's to use on fb, and a set of 3gpp's to use on my phone.

Not sure. What did you use to save as MP4? What are you using to playback the Mp4? Is it a video device or audio? Do the MP4s play on your computer before storing them to the card?
Try saving as Mpeg1 and see if that works.

Is it an Iphone? My Droid plays regular Mpegs

*ahem* I used a *cough* online program to dl the files. I had the option to store them as mp4 or 3gpp's. The mp4's play on my computer. When I try to play them on my phone all I get is audio. Anyway, I deleted the mp4's and dl the same vids as 3gpp's. They take up a lot less space on my memory card and the quality is good on my phone. And I realized that I am going to do more listening than watching anyway.

Ok,
Well here are my thoughts anyways. Is it an Iphone? Mpeg4 videos are more typical of quicktime than other type of players.
If you want to try a different format try Mpeg1
On my phone I have a different app for playing audio than video. Maybe it's the app.
play with the quality...maybe the size is too large for your phone to render and so it cuts out the video. Maybe thats why the 3gpp works
Also if you can take video and it plays back find. Copy a video to the computer and see if you can check out the quailty, compression, audio quality and video quality. It may be that the reason the videos taken by the phone can be viewed is the quality is lower
