Dust of Your Rabbi

My cousin sent this to me in an email recently, it's a 5 part video series and it's worth every minute. Very powerful and very interesting.

I hate to be a killjoy, and there is no doubt that Rob Bell is a great communicator, but he is known for his poor and often faulty use of biblical languages and ancient history.
Just one example

I will listen to it later, but Rob Bell is a bit on the heretical side of the fence.

LOL!! I didn't say the guy was Jesus, just that he had some powerful and interesting stuff to say...

I especially enjoyed his comment in the last video about Phillip and Domitian. I wish I had access to historical references like those...

Re: Dust of Your Rabbi

It isn't the first time that I've heard about "The Dust of the Rabbi," but Rob Bell wasn't the person I heard. I can't remember the person's name, but he was older and Jewish.

I really like the part about the prayer closet.

I've heard this before. It is a really good message....even though RB is not my favorite preacher!

It's from an old Jewish proverb about following a good teacher so closely that the dust his sandals kick up on the road covers you. And I agree about RB - not to cast too many stones at the guy, but he just seems a little bit "off" all the time.

Steppingstone does present some great ideas here, though. Others have covered this:

Ray Vanderlaan produced this series in cooperation with Focus on the Family.

Ray Vanderlaan. That may be the person I heard. Is he a Jewish Christian?
