Triune Name/God?

Some one posted recently
"...I was taught under --name deleted here--- and agree with the name teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ being the triune name of the Godhead...."

something to consider:

Triune name, Triune God?

These three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) are one God
and
These three names (Lord, Jesus, and Christ) are one name

Would that be considered trinity or oneness?

Lord and Christ are epithets or titles. They describe His status (Lord) and His position as Messiah. Three names are not one name. Three persons are not One person. That is a false comparison.

The first is Trinitarianism very basically and undefined beyond persons. Actually it's confusing to many to know without an explanation what they mean by three persons are one God. The persons each have or share the same One Divine essence and Being...If I could put this into anthropomorphic terms, it would be like a three headed human, three persons all sharing the same body but each head has a different personality.

The second is not any sort of Theology, neither Oneness nor trinitarian

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Triune Name/God?

For me I say God is triune in nature of his personas (F, S, HG) but one in physical nature. God has a triune or even more accurately Multiune in His nature.

Re: Triune Name/God?

I don't think #1 is Trinitarian.

I don't know what #2 is.

Then again, I have never thought, neither was I ever taught, that "Lord" was another word for "Father" and "Christ" another word for the "Holy Ghost."

Some years ago I think I remember reading in a UPC tract
The name of the Father is Lord
The name of the Son is Jesus
The name of the Holy Ghost is Christ
so, the full name of God is
Lord Jesus Christ

Some oneness folks are OK with those three separate words being just one name.
Other oneness folks think insisting that those three words (or names) are really just one name is similar to trinitarianism.

I don't think it's either. It's just that you have three "names" that are one name...one name how? LordJesusChrist? It just doesn't make sense. It's like trinitarians telling me "I believe in the three in one"...I go "Oh great, can I barrow some? I have a door that squeeks"
