Coming in Sept - a must-see movie!

Coming this September to a theater near you ... a movie from Director Robert Rodriguez about an illegal immigrant who is hired by a TX rancher to assassinate a US Senator who is against illegal immigration.

No joke, check out the trailer included in the link.

Obviously this is waaaaaay over the line. And I should be upset and offended ... but I'm not. In fact, I'm going to do my part to promote it and make sure people go watch it.

This will release in theaters less than two months before the mid-term elections. This is perfect! You really think legal American citizens are going to just sit there and do nothing in response?

They [illegal immigrants] claim to be the sleeping giants who were awakened by the passage of the new AZ immigration bill. They're not. They're a midget compared to the real giant this movie will awaken.

Robert Rodriguez must have the gift of prophecy, seeing as how this was filmed in 2009, and a fake trailer was released for it during showings of "Grindhouse" in 2007.

Trailer link taken down. Have you seen any Robert Rodriguez films? They are mexican fantasy films with lots of gore and action. Nothing new with this film. It is not a political statement. It is all about entertainment exploiting a political situation for ratings and profit.

As a matter of fact, the video that Fox tries to link to in the article is from the 2007 film "Grindhouse". Looks like Rodriguez wrote the screenplay for this in 1993.

Is this Machete? (And yes, it was a fake trailer for Grindhouse.)

After reading the link it does look like it is being made into a feature film after all. I am sure it will essentially be the 3rd film in the Grindhouse series.

There was a trailer released yesterday for Cinco de Mayo and there's a quote from him after the passage of the bill ... one that I can't repeat per the forum rules.

Obviously this was filmed a while back since it's releasing soon ... but releasing the trailer yesterday, combined with his remarks make this a little more relevant.

Not sure you want to promote a film that includes nudity.

The real sleeping giant that will awaken are latinos that vote republican will switch to be democrat.

Whose remarks? Rodriguez's? I did not see where the article quoted him on anything. Almost all of the quotes in the article come from Tancredo.

Again, the trailer for this was released in 2007. Re-releasing a trailer for a Mexican film from a Mexican director on a Mexican holiday? That sounds like good marketing to me.

On the first, the quote is actually "Machete's" but written by RR.

Quote:
The Mexican filmmaker recut an illegal trailer for his new Mexploitation flick, "Machete," for Cinco de Mayo - as a message to Arizona.

Rodriguez passed along the re-edited film promo to AintItCoolNews.com to denounce the state's recently passed immigration legislation, which makes it a crime for immigrants not to carry their documents.

“This is Machete, with a special Cinco de Mayo message… to Arizona!” star Danny Trejo says, before unleashing a slew of violent expletive-filled and sexy scenes from the film.
If you search the news on google for anything about Machete or Robert Rodriguez you'll find a slew of links about this being released as a message to AZ. You still think this isn't a political statement? This is a punch to the face - it's that blatant.
