A link and a question

I've found what I think is a useful tool which will allow you to embed video to your web pages. It is at: http://cit.ucsf.edu/embedmedia/step1.php.

I'm now wondering if I a can embed MP3 files in a similiar manner. (They are sermons about an hour each.) I can link my visitors to the files, but it takes them a very long time to download. Also, can anyone lead me to finding out how I can put up some files that can be password protected?

I am using nvu to make the pages and ftp in IE if you need to know.
