Henry Martyn wrote the following: "The Spirit of Christ is the spirit
of missions, and the nearer we get to him, the more intensely
missionary we must become."
Your country is a nation of great abundance and "comforts… The first
time I visited America I marveled at so many things I had never seen
before. I sat amazed at your food, your cars, such a life as I had
never seen before. I often think how blessed my brothers and sisters in
America really are and I thank God for you.
I would like to share something with you. We have a group of people
that will be going to the devil worshipping poverty stricken state of
Bahia. We have had bake sales, bazaars and done different things to
raise money for gasoline and our missionary trip to help our people
there. My mother in law suggested I write a letter asking for you to
help us pray about this need and if God should lay something on your
heart we can received it through the stateside address but it must be
earmarked for Bahia trip.
Bahia's poverty is among the highest and its social indicators are
among the lowest in Brazil. Currently, 41 percent of Bahia's population
lives in households below the poverty level…yet more touching than that
is their great need to know Jesus the savior of the world.
Today I read
Isaiah 6:8 - Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I.
Send me!" Jesus said in:
Mark 16:15 - "Go into all the world and preach
the good news to all creation."
There are still many people around this world that have not yet heard
the name of Jesus, and the freedom He offers through a life surrendered
to Him. The Bible also tells us:
Luke 19:10 - For the Son of Man came
to seek and to save what was lost." We are compelled to seek out those
who are lost, and impart to them the Gospel message...or the Good News!
