? about the 10 Plagues

When the 10 plagues were placed on the Egyptians, how long do you think it was between each plague?

Re: ? about the 10 Plagues

There was an excellent show recently on Natgeo (or maybe it was History) concerning this and evidence for them. It was by the host of The Naked Archeologist and showed fascinating evidence for the book of Exodus.

A good bit of the show went through the 10 plagues and showed how every single one of them, including the death of the first born can be attributed to volcanic activity. They even showed an ancient piece of jewelry showing the Ark dated to -I forget if it was 3500 years old or 3500 BC but it would have been made WHEN the Ark was traveling through the wilderness.

I am wondering if maybe months or years was between each plague.

Re: ? about the 10 Plagues

I always imagined it being a few days or a week, but that's partly because they are only sentences apart.

Re: ? about the 10 Plagues

Here is why I am asking. In Exodus it mentions that there was a plague of murrain (I think that is what it was called, not sure what that is, I will have to look that up) of the cattle. Then it said ALL the Egyptians cattle was killed.

Then the next plague was boils on the people and the cattle. So if all the cattle had been killed how was there cattle to receive boils unless they had time to buy more cattle.

It didn't seem too long between the plaques in the movie.

Excellent observation!

It was very likely several months from the first to the tenth.

Re: ? about the 10 Plagues

In the first verse it says cattle

In the next it says beasts.

The hebrew words are different,

Cattlemething bought, that is, property, but only live stock; abstractly acquisition: - cattle, flock, herd, possession, purchase, substance.

Beasts:From an unused root (probably meaning to be mute); properly a dumb beast; especially any large quadruped or animal (often collectively): - beast, cattle.

The Exodus is often dated at 1445 BC
That would have been about 3500 years ago, not 3500 BC
