"I have become increasingly concerned that the bills and policies pushed by the current Democratic leadership are not good for north Alabama or our nation and, more importantly, they do not represent my values and convictions."

I would refrain from having a party yet. As of now he's a RINO.

He switched parties, so what. He has yet to prove anything. Who knows if he truly is a conservative.

He was a Democrat for a reason. I hope the conservatives who were going to run against him continue their plans to do so and don't abandon their campaign because he's switched sides.

They should force him to run and win votes as a republican. He needs to state his political views and explain why he should be voted back as a republican.

Nice to hear, but I'm not opening the wrapper to my cigar gum just yet.

This is a sham.

He's not Conservative-- he thinks he's going to weather a spanking for the Democrats by switching sides now.

He's abandoning his own party to save his political hide-- there's nothing respectable about this.

A lot of Dems and Reps are more central than left or right and can switch. There are Reps that have no problem with abortion and Dems that want more fiscal conservatism.

I was glad to hear it and very surprised any democrat had the courage to change sides with the Chicago politics in operation.

He seems to want to move away from what Democrats stand for - bigger government control. The provisions in this bill are so liberal, he wants to walk away from the direction this Administration is taking us.

He's not even doing the Lieberman thing by hanging on to some of his liberal leanings. Doesn't seem to be anyway.

Did you watch the clip? I'd would be interested in reading your comments on how you feel about him after viewing it.

Yes, I did watch the clip. If he is sincere, I applaud him for standing on his principles. He states he voted against cap and trade, which is a major plus for me.
